Learn to be
here, now

A short guide to start meditating, with three guided practices to make meditation a habit.

What is meditation

4Inhale

Meditation is mental and physical training that develops and strengthens our capacity for concentration and attention. It is training the mind to learn to be "here and now," with what is, moment by moment.

The breath is an excellent way to bring our attention to the present moment and prepare ourselves to meditate.

Common experiences

During meditation practice, a wide range of experiences can arise, physically, mentally, and emotionally. These are some of the most common:

Difficulty concentrating or maintaining attention

A restless, active, or "noisy" mind

Distractions and discomfort when remaining still

The feeling of doing it "wrong"

Held-back emotions: sadness, anger, joy, or frustration

Greater sensitivity and emotional awareness

Greater clarity to observe the body and the mind

A sense of calm, connection, and well-being

Remember: each practice is unique, and there is no right or wrong experience when meditating. With time and consistency, you will develop a greater capacity to observe what happens inside you, sustain attention, and relate to your experiences in a more conscious and balanced way.
